Who Runs This Joint?

Three Sisters Backcountry’s and the Tam Rim Yurts are entering their 17th season!  The yurts were hand built on the west side of Bend in 2008 by Shane Fox and Jonas Tarlen and made their way home to that magical wrinkle in the land, Tam McArthur Rim. The Happy Valley and Lone Wolf Cabins were added in 2015, creating the 3 day 2 night Skyline Hut to Hut Ski Traverse.  Shane moved on from TSBC in 2017.  He continues to ski and build beautiful projects around Central Oregon with his talented brothers.  Anna left a nursing career and joined Jonas to run the Yurts and Traverse full time in 2017.

We have been the luckiest folks on earth to get the opportunity to work up in the snow with such a beautiful array of people.  There have been an overwhelming amount of good memories and great friends made amongst those Hemlocks.  We have poured all the passion we could muster into this special place.  To keep pace and continue elevating our tradition of backcountry skiing, we felt it was time to pass the torch to some new blood.  Syver Pearson joined TSBC in 2024 full time and fit in like a glove.  This Fall, Syver and Lisa (congratulations newlyweds!) are going to be the new Owners/Stewards of the Tam Rim Backcountry Yurts.

Our friends Syver and Lisa have spent their careers in the outdoor world and will hit the ground running strong.  They are professional, kind, talented, passionate and of course… ripping skiers.  Jonas, Anna and Ursa will continue to operate the Skyline Hut to Hut Traverse.  We will be up there in the mountains daily.  You will still see us in the sno-park, skiing the rim, crashing your deck parties, sharing drinks and helping ourselves to your charcuterie!  This project has always been a community effort by our staff, the Forest Service, friends, volunteers and our guests.  We’ll never be able to fully express our gratitude to all of you for making this opportunity possible.  Fully content, we now look forward to the next chapter and wish Syver and Lisa the all the best and many seasons of mountain adventures to come.

A heartfelt Thank you!  Jonas & Anna

Lisa and I are incredibly excited and grateful to carry on the torch and traditions of Three Sisters Backcountry.  We will still have many familiar faces with us including Dane Brinkley, Gabe Coler, Elliott Reed, Allison Miles, and from time to time Jonas and Anna too!  We are so grateful to be surrounded with such a quality team.

We look forward to hosting everyone and continuing to foster folks getting into spectacular backcountry terrain; whether just for the pure joy of disconnecting and sharing a memorable time, or educating our community through avalanche courses.  We have some exciting ideas we will be putting in the works, including Yoga & Wellness retreats, and Wilderness Medicine refresher courses on skis.

We look forward to connecting more – please feel free to reach out anytime.  We will continue to use the info@threesistersbackcountry.com email.  If you would like to connect via phone, we can coordinate that as well.  So far, the forecasts look great for our coming winter.  Anticipated to be a neutral cycle, and perhaps similar to the pattern we experienced this past winter.

Think Snow!

Syver & Lisa

IFMGA guide Gabe Coler, Dane Brinkley, Alli Miles, and Elliott Reed teach our Avalanche Courses, guide skiing, help run shuttles, shovel snow and much more…
